KEVIN HUNT,  DIRECTOR

Kevin Hunt is presently the Veterans’ Services Officer for the Cities of Newburyport, Amesbury and the Towns of Merrimac and Salisbury inMassachusetts.

He served with the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge from 1965 to 1967 during the Vietnam War. From 1967 to 1969, he was an instructor at the Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport Rhode Island. 

Before accepting his present assignment, Kevin worked as an executive with IBM, ADP, EDS and Xerox, primarily as a Northeast Regional Sales Manager for electronic funds transfers. 

He has previously served as a Director of The Dalton Club, Newburyport, Massachusetts, and is a Director of the Friends of the Council on Aging, Newburyport, MA, Senior Commander of the Disabled American Veterans, Service Officer for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and an active member of the American Legion.

BRUCE McCOY, DIRECTOR

Bruce McCoy was born and raised in Bennington, Vermont.  From an early age respect and appreciation for the military was part of growing up due to the fact that his father was a member of the Army and Vermont National Guard for 43 years, retiring as a Sgt Major.  Some of his fondest memories were attending Memorial and Veteran Day parades and services-not so much for the pageantry and fanfare, but for the remembrance of the brave soldiers who fought to defend our freedom.

Bruce attended Saint Michaels College in Winooski, Vermont, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History.  Thru his studies he was able to develop a

Bruce feels that it is truly an honor to serve as President of the Veterans Legacy Initiative and values the opportunity to give back to the men and woman who fought to protect our liberties.

Currently Bruce is employed as Senior Sourcing Analyst for Draeger Medical in Andover.  He is also on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Historical Society of Old Newbury.

RICHARD BANKS, DIRECTOR

Richard Banks, Has been active for 25+ years in Newburyport and its surrounding communities related to veterans’ affairs, public service organizations and in making sure, through donations, that our country’s flags are visible on public poles throughout these areas.

Rich was instrumental in the successful startup of the GE Lynn Veteran’s Council in 2007. He held the position of Deployment Outreach Leader in the GELVC, a position that twice won GE Corporate’s highest award “The Crystal Eagle” for veteran’s support within the company. He was awarded GELVC Outstanding Member in 2010 & 2011 for his work in supporting their deployed and their families.

Rich also help GE Corporate establish a corporate level veteran’s support group “The GE Veteran’s Network”. The GEVN supports those employees, spouses and children who are deployed with a variety of services, resources and personal contact persons. Rich was made National Deployment Outreach (DO) Leader of the newly formed GEVN, which serviced the needs of GE veteran employees and their family members at every site and business within the USA. His role as DO Leader was later extended to GE businesses outside the USA. Rich set standards at DO level that put the GE Company in the corporate lead for support of its Veteran Families.
